Fashion Review: Divine Couture's Latest Drool-Worthy Collection
Kim Tay, designer and founder of bridal boutique, Divine Couture, is well known for her ultra-feminine lace designs that bring out the right curves, and sexy low-back gowns that add sensuality without being vulgar.
"When brides ask me if I can design an avant garde gown, I tell them I'm not the right designer for them. My creations appeal to the bride who's after something dreamy yet contemporary and with a hint of sexiness," she replies when asked about her signature style.
For her latest collection, aptly named The Romantics, Kim didn't disappoint and showed off her designing chops. What stood out was her use of intricate lace that's painstakingly placed and handsewn on each dress. Artfully placed at strategic parts of the dress, the lace creates an illusion of a cinched in waist, a leaner or longer body form, or draws the eyes down to a spectacular train.
Whether it's a row of satin buttons that are handstitched on, an illusion back or a sequinned underlay that twinkles like a starry night under the lights, there's always a little magic in a Divine Couture creation. This collection features a good range of silhouettes — from body-skimming bustier dresses to princess ballgowns with sleeves for brides looking for a little modesty and allure at the same time. We also love that Kim incorporated some colour into a few of the dresses too. The Valerie gown featured white lace over a nude underlay, which lent it a sexy touch while keeping it elegant.
