7 Ways To Re-wear Your Bridesmaid Dress

So the wedding is over and you’re internally cursing yourself for going with a dress you know you’ll pretty much keep in the back of your closet gathering dust. God forbid you spent a good fortune on it too, so donating it may be too painful to bear. While you are unlikely to be wearing it for every occasion, here are 7 ways to revamp or style that dress so you’ll get more wear for your buck!

Hem it up
If you are not one for floor-sweeping maxi dresses, take it to the tailor and transform it into a trendy midi, or an adorable mini. You’ll be surprised what a difference it makes. Wear it to a party, or a fun night out at the bar.

Dye it a different color
Is the dress’ unflattering color or dull palette holding you back? Give it a fresh new start with a dye job in your favorite shade! And if you’re the crafty type, you could even do it on your own. Try an ombre design for a dress thats on-trend and effortlessly stylish.

Alter it to a skirt
Hate the bodice but love the skirt of your dress? Have a tailor alter it into an actual skirt. If you happen to have a tulle dress, you’re in luck—tulle skirts are a classic fashion staple for any self-respecting style icon, and look amazing dressed up or down.

Redesign the dress
Once again, it’s your tailor to the rescue. If you absolutely hate the design of your dress, consider reconstructing it altogether. Add straps to a tube dress, change a boatneck to an off-shoulder, or tailor it into a romper—anything goes.

Dress it down
Keep it casual by styling your bridesmaid dress with everyday pieces. Wear your maxi dress under a cropped t-shirt for a spontaneous date, or pair your dresses with a denim jacket for an edgier look.

Keep it professional
Can’t find the right occasion for your dress? Wear it to work! If you’ve got a midi or knee-length dress, layer on a blazer and accessorize moderately for a work outfit. Pile on the accessories to take the look to brunch with the girls.

Glam it up
Break out the heels and bling, and take the dress to another wedding or dinner party. While accessories don’t drastically change the look of your dress, they have the amazing ability to glamorize your style. Jewelry, if chosen carefully, can also flatter your skin tone and showcase your personality.
