Throwback To Our 5 Fave Korean Celeb Weddings
Adorable 'It' couple of the moment, Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo, who tick every box in the list of #relationshipgoals, have finally tied the knot. We’re beyond happy for them and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for them! As we celebrate the joyous occasion with them, let’s look back on 5 of our all-time favourite Korean celebrity couples on their big day.
Rain and Kim Tae-hee
Many hearts were broken when the sexy crooner and one of South Korea’s leading actresses married in a modest and quiet Catholic ceremony after a five-year courtship. One of the Korean entertainment industry’s most high-profile couples, they probably also rank amongst the most good-looking. Kim Tae-hee is considered one of South Korea’s most beautiful women, while Rain is known for his boyish charm and rock-hard abs. The couple recently welcomed a baby girl in October, and we can only imagine how gorgeous she’ll grow up to be!
Lee Byung-hun and Lee Min-jung
The gorgeous couple married in August 2013 and held a lavish ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Seoul that was the celebrity wedding of the year. The who’s who of Korean entertainment showed up for the star-studded affair, including actors Jang Dong-gun and So Ji-sub. Even though the marriage was affected by a blackmail scandal involving Lee Byung-hun, his loving wife stood by him through it all and their bond remains as strong as ever. The pair has a two-year-old son together.
Bae Yong-joon and Park Soo-jin
Hands up if you remember Winter Sonata, that 2002 smash hit that propelled the Korean Wave and cemented Bae Yong-joon’s status as an auntie killer. He definitely crushed a good number of hearts when he married singer-actress Park Soo-jin in a low-key, private ceremony in 2015 at the Sheraton Grande Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul. There was some deal of controversy surrounding the marriage because of their 13-year age gap, but the couple is happily married with Park Soo-jin currently expecting her second child.
Ahn Jae-hyun and Ku Hye-sun
Sometimes, it’s still a little hard to believe that feisty schoolgirl, Geum Jan-di, from the 2009 hit drama Boys Over Flowers (the role that propelled Ku Hye-sun to superstardom) is actually married! She married fellow actor Ahn Jae-hyun in 2016, whom she also starred with in the drama series, Blood. Far from the conventional glitzy celebrity wedding, the couple decided not to throw a wedding party. Instead, on their big day, they visited a paediatric ward in Severance Hospital in Seoul and donated the money they would have spent to the ward! The couple’s generosity warms our hearts.
Jang Dong-gun and Ko So-young
Often referred to as South Korea’s Brangelina, the power couple married back in 2010 at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. Their wedding party was attended by over 500 guests, including fellow celebrities and friends of the couple, with veteran singer Shin Seung-hoon belting out a song during the dinner. Interestingly, Ko So-young revealed in 2012 that they nearly broke up because she felt he wasn’t ready to settle down. Thankfully, he changed his lifestyle in an effort to prove his commitment to her, and the couple are now the happy parents of a son and daughter.
