Burn More Calories While Working Out With This Suit
Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is not new to the fitness realm, and has been said to activate more muscle fibres for a power-charged workout. VisionGym, however, is the first to bring its wireless suit version to Singapore, and I was invited to attend a one-to-one personal training session with the suit. These are my thoughts.
The workout is tailored to each individual and lasts only twenty minutes, so you’ll have enough time to slot in a session during lunchtime. Don’t be fooled by its relatively short duration though – the intensity will leave you gasping for breath.
Following the principles of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), the workout will keep your heart thumping throughout. With a mere ten seconds between exercises, push-ups and burpees, your weekly session will probably become the bane of your existence. But all the huffing and puffing definitely works up a sweat, and that’s what we’re in the gym for, right?
#3 VisionBody Powersuit
It looks and feels like a wetsuit, except that it sends electricity to different muscle groups, depending on what exercise is being done. Although you’ll only feel a slight tingling sensation, handling two push-ups is close to impossible with the suit on – and I’m a pretty fit guy. And in case you’re worried about being the only spandex-clad person in the gym, you won’t be alone.
All in all, the Powersuit offered a positive experience. I can’t speak much of its efficacy with just one session, but it definitely worked up a sweat and made the usual exercises more intense. If you’re up to the challenge, five classes are priced at an affordable S$99 for first-time customers.
