10 Quick Breakfast Ideas
Happy New Year everyone! So I’ve spent the last couple of weeks in freezing cold Lille, France, and I’ve discovered a side to life I’ve taken for granted having grown up in Asia. Namely, dragging yourself out from under your warm blankets in the morning to get on with the day. Let’s not even talk about going for your first pee: bare bums on cold porcelain is clearly one of the 18 levels of hell I hope you won’t have to experience.
Winter vacations are great and all, but when you have to dress in several layers just to go downstairs for breakfast… the said breakfast had better be worth the effort! Which led me to think about all the croissants I’ve been having in the mornings that are literally the sole reasons I even get out of bed at all. Unfortunately, my metabolism is not built for all that carbs and fat, evident by the recent rebellion of my skin and jeans that are tighter than memory serves.
It’s true that you are what you eat, and if like me, you’ve indulged a little too much over the holidays, here are 10 healthy breakfast ideas that take barely any effort to make. You deserve to start your day right, and if you nourish your body with good fuel, it’ll do right by you.

OVERNIGHT CITRUS MUESLI
Wake up to this simple but nourishing breakfast idea that has all your essential macros; is high in fiber and doesn’t require a stove. Add your desired amount of muesli to a bowl, then add half that amount worth’s of orange juice and let sit overnight in the fridge. In the morning, the normally dry muesli will be deliciously chewy and citrusy. Top with yoghurt, fresh fruit and a tablespoon of flaxseeds.
Tip: Be sure to read the nutritional information regarding serving portion for the muesli – those calories tend to pile up quick, especially if it includes dried fruits (try to look for plain ones or those with only nuts).
