Ariana Grande Isn’t Afraid to Embrace Her “Weird” Fashion Sense

A rare opportunity to meet American pop sensation Ariana Grande in person earlier this month (Sep 20) gave us a glimpse of her daily life. The 24-year-old has just concluded her highly-successful Dangerous Woman tour in Hong Kong on Sept 21, and the eight-month journey saw her performing in 77 countries to hundreds of thousands of her fans.
And of course, with her passion for fitness and fashion, it’s fitting that she’s Reebok’s newest face. With this partnership, Ariana hopes to “encourage people to embrace who they are and the things that are different about them”.
“I don’t do a lot of things like this, so it’s really exciting for me,” explains Ariana, who was dressed in an oversized baby pink sweater dress [baggy clothing is a signature for the superstar] and white trainers from the global fitness lifestyle brand for this interview. “It’s a personal attachment. I really love what Reebok stands for as a brand. I’m a huge advocate of self-expression and being yourself. Looking cute while you do things to make yourself feel good is very important as well.”

sXs: Hey, Ariana! Tell us more about your Reebok ambassadorship and what it means to you.
AG: I think it was important for us to do this because the connection is really genuine, and we have a lot in common. I think we share the same message that we try to instill in our audiences. And to be able to do it together and in a different way is really exciting. I just want to help Reebok inspire people to define fitness on their own terms and be healthy and start from the inside. Also, I love fitness wear as well – athleisure is awesome.
sXs: You talked about a personal attachment to Reebok. Can you elaborate more on that?
AG: I was so excited about the Reebok collab because their classic white Freestyles remind me of my mom. My mom wore them every single day while raising me. I look at these shoes and I see Joan Grande [Ariana’s mother]. It reminds me of my childhood.
