8 Met Gala 2017 Dresses That’ll Rival Rihanna’s Custom ‘Omelette’ Dress by Guo Pei



Has it really been a year since we published our piece on style lessons local celebs can learn from Met Gala 2016? A fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the annual extravaganza is undoubtedly one of fashion’s biggest events, and the place for celebrities and industry insiders to make a style statement – if they so wish.

This year’s edition is no less exciting, thanks to the highly-anticipated opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibition. This year, Comme des Garçons’s designer Rei Kawakubo is honoured with an exhibition entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.”

Few guests, however, paid homage to the Rei Kawakubo theme. We did notice one trend though - remember Rihanna’s canary yellow gown (or some would say, ‘omelette dress’) by Guo Pei in all its draping glory for Met Gala 2016? It does look like her peers are following suit with bales of luxurious cloths – would you just look at Priyanka Chopra’s custom Ralph Lauren trench? #WardrobeEnvy
